Because Of Grace

Because Of Grace

1920 1280 Rory Fry

Because of grace
I draw each sober breath
In a world punctuated by relapse
And progressive depravity

I brace for impact
Safe in Your tender care
My serenity intact
No wiles of the disease will impair

Though
I’ve seen brothers damaged
And sisters fall
Juggernauts red eyed
And the hopeless crawl
I have yet to taste the madness
All of grace
I surpass the sadness

One breath at a time
Reaching my hand out
To the beaten and damned
Those who cannot stand now
Legless soldiers swimming from shipwrecks
Mangled men with no strength to inspect
The state of their hearts
The shape of their minds
They carry their scars
Born legally blind

Grace alone can cure their grief
Grant sobriety and bring relief
No amount of service
Nor strength of the will
Can ever save
Could ever heal

Because of grace
And nothing less
We relish in sanity
Sober breaths
Gifts of recovery

I am an indie writer who loves to proclaim the Saving Message of Jesus Christ and the Healing Power of Recovery. I have been clean and sober since 10/01/2011 and dedicate much of my free time to others, giving Bible Studies and helping the less fortunate through my ministry Reformed and Recovered. I am also the proud father of a three-month-old boy named Rowen who is a true gift to my wife Christina and me. God is Good! I have recently released a thirty-three piece collection of poems, prayers, and polemics called "The Renovation". The collection is available online for the low price of $4. I am self-published and desire to be of service to others and praise our Savior!
