The Golden Calf has Stars and Stripes

The Golden Calf has Stars and Stripes

1407 1055 Amanda N. Butler

A document of constitution – the tenfold decree,
expression – an entreaty.
Where is the altar for the stars,
who is the deity of the stripes?
Does the ensign desire sacrifice for salvation?
I do not remember reading
The Gospel According to the Flag –

“Praise to you, oh nation of threads,
all hail the white, the blue, the red –
the singular way to salvation
is the glory of the nation.
In the name of the stars, stripes, and holy banner.”
