Artist Peter Olsen has used detail shared in the Bible to pay homage to the all of the women mentioned in it. That’s right, all of them. In these illustrations, Peter has crafted a wealth of emotion, personality, and depth to these women as he sees them. Women play a shamefully underrated role in the world’s greatest Book, and we wholly commend Peter for seeing their importance enough to spend such a large amount of time recreating them.
A NOTE ON MEDIUM: “Oil is absolutely my favorite medium. When I began working with oils at the Academy, I felt a new world had burst forth! Some artists move away from oils because of its slow drying time, and if time is critical I understand. However, oil is superior for blending, light, shadow, depth, and durability as well as its long lasting, rich luminous color“ — Peter Olsen
