Turn, Turn, Turn

Turn, Turn, Turn

Turn, Turn, Turn 1920 1279 Patrick Connors

Give up your crooked ways
and your evil thoughts.
Return to the Lord our God.
He will be merciful
and forgive your sins.
(Isaiah 55:7, CEV)

The Earth will turn on its axis
until it will no more—
hands on a clock turn slowly
as do the tides and seasons
so must I turn to my Lord
every day and be made new—

to get what I need to get through it
and a clean slate to fill
with fresh and recycled sins—

for even my best days
are marred by my mistakes,
decisions blurred by various vanities.

I will live the life
to which I am called
to give what I’ve been given
not just take and keep for myself.

Yet I drink from the cup the world gives me,
deeply as with a thirst that can’t be quenched.

He will not change my circumstances
until He changes me and until
I let Him change me.
